Once you’ve completed your induction and settled into the programme, our job coaches will help match your skills and career interests with a suitable work experience placement.
You’ll start by doing work experience with one of our partners one day a week. The other four days will be spent at NSI focused on PSHE, employability and enterprise skills, Maths and English, as well as sport, creative activities and trips organised in partnership with The Warren.
During the course, you’ll have the opportunity to go on fun and educational trips to broaden your knowledge and understanding of how real-life businesses function and the enterprise skills required for different positions within a business.
Throughout the year you might take part in different roles within an employer’s organisation, or even work with different businesses. We’ll find the best fit for you to ensure you get a good breadth of experience whilst you carve out your own career ambitions.
By the end of your first year, it’s anticipated that you’ll be spending 40% of your time on work experience and 60% studying. Hopefully one of your work experience placements will develop into a full internship in your second year, or even sooner if you’re ready to be fast tracked.
Applying for your internship
The application process for your internship will mirror the real world of work – you’ll complete an application, go through a vetting process and even attend an interview. But don’t worry, we’ll be here to support you through the process.
